What are orthotics?
1. What are orthotics?
Custom made orthotics are insoles that are made to fit your feet based on a precise imprint of your foot. These orthotics are placed in your shoe and help to alleviate imbalances you may have in your foot. These orthotics help to bring your feet into the proper alignment which may reduce the stresses on your foot which can help to alleviate pain and discomfort in the feet, ankles, knees and lower back.
2. How do my feet affect the rest of my body?
Your feet support your entire body when you are standing, walking or running. They are the foundation of your body much like the foundation of a tall building. When there is an imbalance in the foundation of a building, the whole building will be off balance. The same is true for your body. A small imbalance in your foot will affect the way you walk, stand and run. This small imbalance in the foot will cause changes up your ankle, knee, hip and lower back. Orthotics help to rebalance your feet, reducing pain and discomfort in your feet and may help reduce pain in your legs and back.
3. How do I know if I need orthotics?
If you are experiencing foot pain, ankle or knee pain or lower back pain, you may benefit from orthotics. Call our office to set up an appointment and Dr. Kim will assess you and discuss what the best options are for you.
